Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Crew Leader for Lexington Maintenance to coordinate construction and maintenance activities. You will manage time sheets, daily work reports, and traffic control per District Traffic Engineer submittals.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL within six months, two years of related work experience, and ability to operate equipment during emergencies and hazardous weather. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate construction and maintenance activities as crew leader.
• Maintain time sheets and daily work reports.
• Inspect and install signs and traffic markings per District Traffic Engineer submittals.
• Lead crew in traffic control for lane closures, detours and road closures per MUTCD.
• Lay out and install turn lane chevrons, railroad crossings, crosswalks and stop bars.
• Perform job hazard analysis before large jobs to minimize risk of injury.
• Operate equipment during emergencies and hazardous weather operations.
