Job summary

The Georgia Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Foreman for the TRT053 Trans Tech 4 (PG-J) role in Georgia. You will assist a Foreman in supervising a crew performing routine maintenance on state routes and ensure safety, training, and proper procedures are followed.

Position requires CDL Class B, experience in roadway maintenance, and the ability to coordinate, inspect, and document activities.

Qualifications

The minimum includes a high school diploma or GED and 18 months of experience at a position equivalent.
Agency minimum: three years of roadway maintenance or construction experience; valid Class B CDL; MSD Level 1-4; maintenance knowledge; MSDS experience.
External candidates: three years' roadway maintenance; CDL Class B or higher; MSDS; equipment operation and data gathering skills.
Leadership and training ability; traffic control familiarity; independent work and reliability are needed.

Responsibilities

Assist Foreman in supervising a crew on routine maintenance of the state route system.
Assist with safety training, procedures, and preventive maintenance techniques for equipment.
Assist with planning, directing activities, and coordinating daily maintenance work.
Assist with inspections, reporting, and documentation; support communication with the public.
Assist with emergencies and team responses in assigned area.
