Job summary

Tarrant County seeks an experienced supervisor for freeway incident management to oversee field units, coordinate schedules, and respond to highway incidents. You will lead training programs, ensure equipment maintenance, and manage reporting and documentation in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of supervisory experience, and a valid driver's license. Certification in Freeway Incident Management/First Responder within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical training in transportation management, traffic or incident management, engineering, highway construction, or automobile repair preferred.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver's license required, Class C or above.
  • Freeway Incident Management / First Responder Certification required within six (6) months of date of hire.
  • Good interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Experience or training in public speaking desirable.
  • Must understand, interpret, and apply applicable policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to prepare official documents (memos, letters).
  • Working knowledge of Sheriff's Department policies, Civil Service Rules, SOPs, and the TC Employee Handbook.
  • Working knowledge of department organization and functions.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises employees including evaluation, timekeeping, and other personnel matters.
  • Coordinates unit schedules, activities, and actions as needed.
  • Performs freeway incident management activities including incident after action review and plan of action for removing the incident.
  • Responds to accidents and incidents on the highway systems and assists in analyzing the situation.
  • Responsible for equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Implements and facilitates new hire and employee training classes and programs.
  • Performs administrative reporting and recordkeeping; verifies reports are accurate and legible.
  • Assists superiors with administrative duties; notifies senior managers of serious incidents.
  • Attends and completes all required training.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
