Job summary

Tarrant County seeks an outdoor highway incident responder to assist motorists, observe and notify the Transportation Management Center, and maintain smooth traffic flow on assigned routes. The role involves coordinating with law enforcement and other responders to clear congestion efficiently.

Requires a High School diploma and a Texas driver's license, with technical training in transportation management or related fields preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in automotive repair, roadway maintenance and construction, highway emergency response patrol activities or traffic control activities preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver's License, Class C or above.
• Technical training in transportation management, traffic or incident management, engineering, highway construction, or automobile repair preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to accidents/incidents on the highway systems and analyzes situation to plan removal.
• Communicates using phonetic alphabet and 10-codes with radio equipment.
• Assists motorists with disabled vehicles and removes vehicles/motorists when needed.
• Operates and maintains the incident response vehicle per PMI policies.
• Observes traffic control devices and reports major problems.
• Ensures safety regulations are met to provide a safe working environment.
• Moves litter and roadway debris to assure a safe thoroughfare.
• Assists in sanding bridges/roads, posting warning signs, and assisting the public during emergencies.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
