Job summary

New Look Enterprise, LLC is seeking a Highway heavy Grading Foreman to supervise site grading and earthwork in central Minnesota. You will lead crews, operate equipment as needed, and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and inspectors to keep projects on schedule and compliant with plans.

Job description

New Look Contracting is a contracting company performing earthwork, demolition, and utilities primarily in central Minnesota. The Highway heavy Grading Foreman supervises and manages all site grading and earthwork activities. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to project specifications, plans, and quality standards. The foreman leads crews, operates equipment when needed, and communicates closely with project managers, engineers, and inspectors.

GRADING FOREMAN:

Responsibilities: Below are the essential duties and responsibilities of the position; other duties may be assigned as directed:

  • Safety-focused mentality – (1) Daily project hazard awareness meetings at the job site. (2) Maintain a safe working environment by identifying job site hazards and taking corrective action when necessary. (3) Ensures all activities performed follow New Look safety policies and OSHA. (4) Reporting of safety issues – involved in any safety investigation.
  • Communicates proactively and effectively with all parties involved in a project, including (1) Daily communication with project superintendents. (2) Pre-construction, construction, and post-construction follow-up and communication. (3) Communication needed on equipment requirements/needs for each project. (4) Trucking communication, fuel communication, Vac truck communication.
  • Quality assurance throughout each project to ensure: (1) New Look’s specified quality standards are met throughout each project. (2) Perform quality control checks and quality compliance.
  • Leads and manages the team throughout the project, addressing performance as it occurs, identifying and problem-solving any adversity issues as they arise, and communicating any issues with the project superintendent.
  • Completes daily administration duties including (1) Complete daily logs and timecards at the end of every shift. (2) Track quantities and record accurately on a daily basis
  • Assign daily task and ensure efficient workflow
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications
  • Oversee site preparation, excavation, grading, and compaction activities
  • Ensure proper drainage, slope, and elevation requirements are met
  • Additional responsibilities may be added as necessary.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, a candidate would have the following:

  • Confident in abilities to take initiative when action is necessary

  • Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, and site development
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and grade stakes
  • Familiarity with GPS: Rover/Machine control systems
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred)
