Job summary

Racine County Public Works seeks an Equipment Operator to maintain roads, parks, and facilities in a fast-paced team setting. You will operate highway and park machinery, perform snow plow tasks, and handle routine maintenance while coordinating with dispatch via radio.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of relevant experience, and Wisconsin licenses; Class B CDL preferred and Class A CDL possible within 4 months. Strong reliability and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1 year experience operating machinery and equipment in construction/maintenance.
• Valid Wisconsin Class D license.
• Class B CDL preferred.
• Ability to obtain Class A CDL within 4 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on highways, parks, buildings, and facilities.
• Occasionally operate equipment used in highway and park construction and maintenance.
• Plow snow and salt icy roads and parking lots.
• Availability for emergency and after-hours call-outs.
• Prepare maintenance and construction grades.
• Perform daily operator maintenance checks and preventative maintenance.
• Move equipment between projects.
• Operate spraying equipment.
• Report problems to dispatcher via 2-way radio.
• Perform minor repairs on machinery and equipment.
• All other duties as assigned.
