Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Highway Engineer to join our Alaska Transportation team. You will collaborate with experts to develop innovative roadway solutions for the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, local governments, and private-sector clients.

The role involves planning and design of safety improvements, traffic operations enhancements, and multimodal facilities, with mentorship of junior staff and a focus on technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Experience delivering highway, roadway, or transportation design projects.
• Proficiency with roadway design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or OpenRoads Designer.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and design of roadway safety improvements, intersection upgrades, traffic operations enhancements, and multimodal transportation facilities.
• Prepare plans, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
• Apply AASHTO, state DOT, and local design standards to develop practical engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to identify opportunities that improve safety, accessibility, and mobility for all roadway users.
• Participate in quality reviews and support project delivery throughout all phases of design.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to Jacobs' culture of technical excellence and innovation.
