Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to oversee highway design projects in the New England region. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership, mentoring junior staff, and driving project delivery.

The successful candidate will manage design tasks from concept through PS&E, review roadway alignments, estimates, and criteria, and collaborate with Project Managers on complex DOT programs. A PE license and 10 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil, Transportation or Structural Engineering.
• PE license or equivalent professional credential.
• Experience leading highway design projects and teams.
• Travel may be required and expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of highway design tasks from concept through PS&E.
• Develop and review roadway alignments, design criteria, construction plans, specs, and estimates.
• Provide day-to-day technical oversight to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
• Mentor and review work of junior engineers; provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Technical Leaders on DOT projects.
• Review designs for compliance with standards; sign and seal documents as required.
• Perform site reviews and field studies to support constructible solutions.
• Support proposal and task order efforts with scope development and technical review.
