Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to drive highway design projects with hands-on leadership and broad technical oversight. The role supports New England work in a hybrid setting with opportunities to grow into senior leadership.

The candidate will guide roadway design from concept to PS&E, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with PMs on multi‑modal DOT initiatives, while ensuring compliance with standards and client goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
10 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical delivery of highway design tasks from concept through PS&E.
Develop and review roadway alignments, design criteria, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Provide day-to-day technical oversight to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
Mentor and review work performed by junior engineers; provide technical guidance and support.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Technical Leaders on complex DOT projects.
Review designs for compliance with federal, state and local standards; sign and seal documents as required.
Perform site reviews and field studies to support constructible, real-world design solutions.
Support proposal and task order efforts, including scope development and technical review.
