Job summary

State of West Virginia is seeking a Transportation Worker 3 Crew Chief to lead a highway maintenance crew at the Corridor H-Knobley Road facility in Maysville, WV. The role requires oversight of daily projects, time/materials reporting, and ensuring safety during hazardous conditions.

A CDL is required within six months, with potential progression through a DOL apprenticeship program. The position offers classification as exempt and at-will employment, with Tier 4 hourly pay and a comprehensive

Qualifications

Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in roadway construction or roadway maintenance, or in bridge or structural steel construction comparable to the work performed by the Division of Highways.
Substitutions: Vocational school program may substitute for two years of required experience.
A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) will be required within six (6) months of employment.

Responsibilities

Leads a crew of transportation workers and participates in the maintenance and repair of highways.
Investigates citizen complaints to determine repairs and materials needed.
Schedules maintenance and repair projects and coordinates equipment and materials.
Completes reports concerning time, materials, and inspection of work.
