Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is seeking a Transportation Worker 3 Crew Chief to supervise a crew in highway maintenance and repair. You will investigate citizen complaints, determine necessary repairs, schedule projects, and oversee daily activities under limited supervision.

Leadership of skilled workers, adherence to safety standards, and accurate reporting are essential. A CDL is required within six months of employment; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in roadway construction or roadway maintenance, or in bridge or structural steel construction comparable to the work performed by the Division of Highways.
• Substitutions: Vocational school program may substitute for two years of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew of transportation workers in highway maintenance and repair.
• Investigate citizen complaints and determine repairs and materials needed.
• Assist in scheduling maintenance and repair projects.
• Coordinate equipment and materials for projects.
• Assign duties and oversee project completion.
• Complete reports on time, materials, and inspection;
• Travel may be required and a valid driver's license is required.
