Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking CEI Inspectors to support the Carolinas Region across North Carolina, with willingness to commute from South Carolina. Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology is required, along with 0–2 years of related inspection experience.

The role involves construction inspection, materials testing, and surveying, ensuring compliance with plans, contracts, and permits. Strong field skills and the ability to work nights/weekends are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related curriculum from an accredited institution.
• 0-2 years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Must be able to perform moderate physical activity (walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, standing).
• Must lift 50 lbs. and work nights/weekends as required.
• Safety gear and pre-employment drug screening requirements.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory MVR.

Responsibilities

• Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.
• Test materials; review plans; analyze engineering data; conduct construction surveying.
• Maintain daily diaries and address constructability issues to avoid delays.
• Monitor contractor operations; review test reports to ensure conformance to specs.
• Document pay records and perform construction calculations.
• Advise supervisor on plan revisions or contract adjustments to improve safety and delivery.
• Ensure compliance with NC Sedimentation and Pollution Control Act and permits.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays.
