Job summary

Volkert Inc. in North Carolina seeks CEI Inspectors to support the Carolinas Region statewide; you may commute from South Carolina.

You will perform technical duties supporting engineers in highway construction, including inspections, materials testing, surveying, and regulatory compliance. Requirements include an Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology, 0–2 years of inspection experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, and willingness to work nights/weekends.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related curriculum from an accredited institution.
• 0-2 years of progressive inspection experience or equivalent education.
• Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
• Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.
• Safety toe shoes required.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory MVR.

Responsibilities

• Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.
• Test materials; review plans; analyze engineering data; and perform construction surveying.
• Maintain daily diaries on project operations and address constructability issues to mitigate delays.
• Monitor contractor operations and review test reports for conformance with plans and specs.
• Document pay records, perform construction calculations, and enter data.
• Advise on plan revisions or contract adjustments to improve safety, delivery, and quality.
• Ensure compliance with environmental permits and related regulations.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays.
