Volkert Inc. is seeking CEI Inspectors to support the Carolinas region, including North Carolina.

The role involves inspecting highway construction, materials testing, surveying, and regulatory compliance across projects statewide, with some travel from nearby states. Requirements include an Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology and up to two years of progressive inspection experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
• 0-2 years of progressive inspection experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling and standing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform field inspections.

Responsibilities

• Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards and specifications.
• Test materials, review plans and analyze data; perform survey/layout.
• Maintain daily diaries and resolve constructability issues to avoid delays.
• Monitor daily operations and review test reports for conformance.
• Document pay records and perform construction calculations and data entry.
• Advise supervisor on plan revisions or contract adjustments to improve safety and quality.
• Ensure compliance with sedimentation and pollution control acts and permits.
• Coordinate with contractors, owners, and utility companies to minimize delays.
