Job summary

CLA is seeking an Assistant Controller for our Higher Education Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. Opportunities are available in Chicago, IL, King of Prussia, PA, Austin and Houston, TX, and Minneapolis, MN locations.

You will perform Assistant Controller functions for client accounting teams, advise on accounting best practices, manage multiple clients, and prepare financial statements while seeking opportunities for clients and communities.

Qualifications

• 6 years of accounting experience required.
• Experience in the Higher Education industry strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for the client’s accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor on best practices for accounting and finance engagements.
• Provide project management by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
