Job summary

Red Rabbit is hiring a Prep Cook/Baker in Washington, DC for a school-based catering program. You will work with a Head Chef to prepare scratch-made meals for hundreds of children, with stable day hours and weekends/holidays off. The role emphasizes food safety, accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

You will support daily production, bake basic goods, and ensure DOH standards are met, while maintaining a positive, professional kitchen culture.

Qualifications

• At least 2+ years in a fast-paced culinary role in food service or similar setting.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is required.
• Experience with baking and using industrial kitchen equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and portions according to recipes and safety guidelines.
• Read production sheets and prioritize daily menu items with Head Chef.
• Cook, cool, and plate foods within strict timelines.
• Pack and distribute meals to students while ensuring compliance portions.
• Maintain clean stations and sanitize equipment to exceed DOH standards.
• Assist bakery tasks including measuring, mixing, baking and cooling.
• Support daily bakery production and keep an organized workstation.
