Job summary

Red Rabbit in LIC, NY invites a Prep Cook to join a high-volume, school meals operation. You’ll prepare scratch-made dishes, follow daily menus, and plate meals for students on a tight schedule, with stable daytime hours and weekends/holidays free.

The role requires 2+ years cooking in fast-paced environments, ServeSafe certification, strong teamwork, and dedication to nutrition in schools. You’ll work with the Head Chef, ensure DOH standards, and contribute to a positive kitchen culture.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional culinary experience in fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices.
• Familiarity with industrial kitchen equipment.
• ServeSafe Certificate required (or within 90 days of hire).
• Self-motivated and highly organized; strong teamwork.
• Able to read/write in English; bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read menu production sheets to understand daily food quantities.
• Collaborate with Head Chef to prioritize production.
• Portion and weigh food according to recipes and guidelines.
• Cook, cool, and plate food per recipes and safety standards.
• Pack and distribute meals to students on schedule.
• Count and track food produced to minimize waste.
• Maintain DOH standards by cleaning workstations/equipment.
• Represent Red Rabbit values with professionalism.
