Job summary

Overland Contracting Inc. is seeking a Substation Journeyman to plan, lay out, install, test, and maintain high voltage substation wiring and equipment in generating stations and substations.

You will work with a skilled team to install conduits, cables, and control systems, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards. Responsibilities include operating live-substation equipment up to 500,000 volts, coordinating with multiple trades, and applying rigorous safety

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of high voltage electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Crane operation certification preferred (NCCCO/NCCER).
• Must follow safety procedures and permit-to-work rules.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lay out substation wiring and equipment installation.
• Install and test high voltage conduits, cables, and switchgear.
• Operate equipment up to 30-ton crane in live substations (up to 500,000 volts).
• Maintain safe work practices and report hazards.
• Coordinate with crew and other crafts to ensure quality and schedule.
