The role emphasizes quality checks, standards conformance, and collaboration with project teams. The position requires 5–8 years in substation design, proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology or equivalent substation experience.
• 5-8 years of experience in substation design or similar with utility or consulting firm.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform substation electrical design activities including drawings, specifications, bill of materials, and cable schedules.
• Perform careful self-checking to ensure quality before review by senior designers.
• Prepare CAD drawings with neatness and minimal errors for complex projects.
• Ensure all designs conform to client and industry standards.
• Communicate and coordinate with senior engineer and project manager.
• Track and update design activities using client or company systems.
• Assist senior engineers at job site meetings to gather scope of work.
• Assist with RFIs during project construction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
