Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. in Emeryville is seeking a Substation Electrical Designer to join our Power Delivery team.

You will draft and detail technical deliverables for PG&E high-voltage substations (4kV to 500kV), ensuring all materials meet PG&E standards and applicable codes. You will use AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to produce drawings, BOMs, schedules, and panel elevations, collaborating with engineers and project managers.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent practical substation experience.
• 5–8 years of substation design experience with utility or consulting firm.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drafting & design using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to prepare detailed electrical construction drawings.
• Create conduit & cable schedules, BOMs, and panel elevations.
• Perform self-checks for accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
• Coordinate projects with client and internal teams; communicate progress with senior engineers and project managers.
• Support engineering team during site walks and provide input for RFIs.
• Ensure designs conform to PG&E Technical Standards and client requirements.
