Job summary

Delaware River Port Authority is hiring a Train Operator to operate high speed rail transit cars for PATCO, following strict operating and safety rules. The role requires passing written and agility exams, plus drug, alcohol, and background checks.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, and ideally a bachelor’s level coursework in business or transportation. Shifts may include nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, understand written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to pass Train Operator written examination.
• Must be able to pass Train Operator physical agility examination.
• Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test and a background check.

Responsibilities

• Operates high speed rail transit cars carrying passengers.
• Complies with operating rules, bulletins and procedures.
• Documents and disseminates information on equipment failures to supervisors.
• Recognizes and reports train mechanical and electrical faults.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
• Respond to management direction and shifts as required.
