Job summary

Bend-La Pine Schools is seeking a high school athletic coach to lead a comprehensive program and guide student-athletes with a focus on ethics, accountability, and progress. The position requires strong role-modeling, stakeholder communication, and collaboration with the Athletic Director.

The role involves evenings and weekends, potential travel for practices and competitions, and adherence to NFHS and district safety standards. Equity and student well-being are core to the role.

Qualifications

• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (one-time requirement) or equivalent.
• Concussion in Sports (yearly)
• Heat Illness Prevention (every 4 years)
• Appearance and Performance Enhancing Drugs and Substances Training (every 4 years)
• Heads up certification (Yearly) Football only
• First Aid/CPR/AED (every 2 years) (paid coaches only)

Responsibilities

• Hold high ethical and professional standards.
• Be an appropriate role model for high school student-athletes.
• Hold high expectations and accountability academically and behaviorally for all student-athletes and coaching staff.
• Develop, articulate, and implement a vision for the program.
• Work cooperatively within an educational, school-wide athletic program.
• Lead a comprehensive high school athletic program; coaching staff oversight.
• Communicate eligibility, tryout, cut processes, lettering rules, etc., to athletes and families.
• Assist in fundraising efforts for the program.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Advocate for multi-sport athletes.
• Assist in scheduling for the sport with the Athletic Director.
• Be accessible and visible to athletes at all levels.
• Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director.
