Job summary

Bend-La Pine Schools is seeking an Assistant Coach to lead and mentor high school athletes within a comprehensive program. You will model ethics, support academic and behavioral excellence, and promote inclusive practices in a dynamic athletic setting.

The role requires collaboration with the Athletic Director, engagement in fundraising, scheduling, and transparent communication with students, families, and staff. Equity and student welfare are guiding priorities.

Qualifications

• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching required (one-time).
• Concussion in Sports updated yearly.
• Heat Illness Prevention training required every 4 years.
• Appearance and Performance Enhancing Drugs training every 4 years.
• Heads up certification yearly (Football only).
• First Aid/CPR/AED every 2 years (paid coaches).
• Bend-La Pine Safe Schools trainings yearly.

Responsibilities

• Hold high ethical and professional standards.
• Be an appropriate role model for high school student-athletes.
• Hold high expectations and accountability academically and behaviorally for all student-athletes and coaching staff.
• Develop, articulate, and implement a vision for the program.
• Work cooperatively within a school-wide athletic program.
• Experience leading a comprehensive high school athletic program (preferred).
• Be relationship/process oriented.
• Explain eligibility, tryout, cut processes and team rules to athletes.
• Be involved in fundraising for the program.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Advocate for multi-sport athletes.
• Assist in scheduling for your sport with the Athletic Director.
• Be accessible and visible to athletes at all levels.
• Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director.
