Job summary

Bend-La Pine Schools is seeking a high school athletic coach to lead and develop a comprehensive program for student-athletes. The role requires strong ethics, visibility with athletes, and effective communication with families and staff.

The position emphasizes academic and behavioral accountability, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with the Athletic Director for scheduling and program development.

Qualifications

• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (one-time requirement)
• Concussion in Sports (annual)
• Heat Illness Prevention (every 4 years)
• Appearance and Performance Enhancing Drugs and Substances Training (every 4 years)
• Heads up certification (Football only, yearly)
• First Aid/CPR/AED (every 2 years)

Responsibilities

• Hold high ethical and professional standards.
• Be an appropriate role model for high school student-athletes.
• Hold high expectations and accountability academically and behaviorally for all student-athletes and coaching staff.
• Develop, articulate, and implement a vision for the program.
• Work cooperatively in a school-wide athletic program.
• Lead a comprehensive high school athletic program (preferred).
• Be relationship/process oriented.
• Explain eligibility, tryout, cut processes and lettering rules to athletes.
• Be involved in fundraising for the program.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Advocate for multi-sport athletes.
• Assist in scheduling for the sport with the Athletic Director.
• Be accessible and visible to athletes at all levels.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Athletic Director.
