Job summary

School District 27J is seeking a Student Engagement Specialist to mentor and advocate for students facing obstacles to school success and at-risk of dropping out. This role focuses on building relationships with students and families, monitoring progress, and developing individualized plans to promote persistence and graduation.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years working with youth at risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, criminal justice, or human services required.
• Minimum 3 years working with youth at risk of academic failure.
• Spoken and written Spanish/Bilingual skills highly preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor early warning data systems to identify students needing supports.
• Build trusting relationships with at-risk students and families.
• Develop and implement individual student success plans to promote self-advocacy and engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student needs.
• Connect students and families with community services and networks.
• Maintain records and submit monthly progress reports.
