Job summary

Berlin Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional- Special Education for the STEP Program at Berlin High School. The paraprofessional will assist with instructional support, supervise students, and help implement behavior management plans under the direction of a licensed special education teacher.

The candidate should demonstrate strong teamwork skills, positive engagement with students, and the ability to work with peers, families, and school staff to support high school

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or higher education.
• Ability to support students with social-emotional and behavioral needs.
• Ability to work well with others in a cooperative manner.
• Initiative, independence, adaptability and efficiency.
• Good English language skills and understanding of public education goals.
• Subject area knowledge as required by assignment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and work with high school students individually and in groups.
• Provide instruction and prepare materials under a certified teacher.
• Monitor and implement behavior management systems.
• Perform assigned classroom tasks and supervise during lunch and transitions.
• Possibly liaise with general and special education staff, parents and others.
