Job summary

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Spanish Teacher for Watanabe High School to deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons and assessments that facilitate active learning. You will manage classroom behavior, monitor student progress, and adjust teaching strategies while collaborating with families, interventionists, instructional coaches and on-site counselors to support the whole child.

First-year compensation is $55,600 with sign-on bonuses, health care options, retirement

Qualifications

• Valid IN Teaching License.
• Credentialed to teach dual credit or willing to work towards it (with reimbursement).
• Competency in using technology in the classroom setting.
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• Strong belief in the mission and goals of Christel House Indianapolis.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver standards-aligned lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, conduct home visits, schedule student-led conferences, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
• Participate in appropriate professional activities.
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Other duties assigned.

Spanish Teachers at Christel House have the autonomy to try innovative strategies in their classrooms to reach all types of learners.
