South Bronx United seeks a passionate and dynamic educator to join our team as the full-time High School Program Manager. This person will serve as a key staff member of the SBU Academy, a comprehensive and longitudinal program that serves 190 youth annually, in grades 6-12. Academic programming is held during out of school time (afternoons, evenings, and summer). The Academy program is guided by a comprehensive Student-Athlete Pathway program design that outlines scaffolds and targeted outcomes for each grade level in academic skills, high school and college preparation, social-emotional learning, and competitive soccer. Program staff promote the SBU Values of Showing Commitment, Bringing Integrity, and Uniting our Community in all that we do.

The High School Program Manager manages all programming and works individually with students in grades 9-11, collaborating with our College and Career Success Program Director and Middle School Program Manager to ensure vertically aligned programming. The core responsibilities include curriculum implementation, individual academic advising, training and managing coach mentors and academic mentors, and managing partnerships and events that contribute to a positive student experience and promote high engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop and Implement Educational Curriculum

• Under the guidance of the Director of Academic and Postsecondary Programs, analyze academic data to implement tiered programming.
• Implement program curriculum for grades 9-11 that supports student-athletes in meeting grade-level benchmarks needed to work toward four-year high school graduation.
• Collaborate with key staff to establish and maintain program procedures and policies.
• Facilitate all summer academic programming sessions.
• Manage on-site programming to ensure the consistent and high-quality delivery of services, including classroom and behavior management.

2. Advise and manage academic support for 70-90 students

• Track and Analyze Student Academic Data: Gather and monitor transcripts, report cards, and internal assessments to build a comprehensive picture of each student’s progress and potential.
• Develop Personalized Academic Plans: Craft customized academic support strategies for each student, ensuring guidance that is as unique as their individual pathways to success.
• Facilitate Goal-Setting Sessions: Conduct empowering sessions with students to establish clear, ambitious academic goals and create detailed plans for achieving them.
• Empower 10th Graders Through Individual Progress Meetings: Complete one-on-one meetings with each student and their guardians to evaluate progress at this pivotal moment in their academic journey and strategically prepare for college applications.
• Monitor and Adapt Strategies: Regularly oversee and assess student progress. Be prepared to modify strategies for continuous improvement and relentless pursuit of excellence..
• Collaborate for Success: Form strong partnerships with schools and families to provide the most effective and personalized support for each student.

3. Train and manage academic mentors, summer program teachers, and coach-mentors:

• Collaborate with Academy staff to facilitate orientation and ongoing training for all volunteer academic mentors, education interns, and summer program staff.
• Managing and supporting all academic mentors and education interns during academic programming.
• Manage Google Classroom to share all lesson plans and materials with academic mentors and interns on time.
• Oversee the planning and implementation of summer courses and serve as an instructional coach.
• Facilitate weekly meetings with the head coach-mentors of all high-school-aged teams.

4. Coordinate special projects, events, and partnerships

• Serve as liaison with the organization’s education partners and networks.
• Coordinate and facilitate special student events and college trips.
• Support the implementation of annual organization events.

• At least three years' experience working in educational or youth settings
• Proficient in transcript analysis and graduation requirements
• Proficiency in managing student academic data
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Experience in training and supporting other professionals
• Excellent interpersonal skills with adults and youth
• Flexible and adaptable to work in a variety of settings
• Effective in multi-cultural and cross-cultural settings and understanding of individuals of all backgrounds
• Experience working with systematically marginalized and underrepresented communities
