Job summary

Columbus City Schools is seeking an experienced administrator to provide strategic direction for the district's curriculum at an assigned high school, ensuring alignment with the district's mission and instructional goals. The role oversees staffing, budgeting, and program development, while maintaining records and fostering strong communication with central office, staff, students, and families.

Strong leadership and a valid Ohio Principal license are required to drive district-wide

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, administration or a related field required at time of appointment.
• Two or more years of experience as an assistant principal with supervisory responsibilities.
• State of Ohio Principal license (Grades 5-12) required.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day activities of building staff, including hiring, training, counseling, evaluating staff, and recommending disciplinary actions.
• Prepares and administers building budgets; oversees procurement of books, supplies and equipment.
• Maintains knowledge of curriculum trends and improves instructional strategies.
• Ensures staff credentials and ongoing professional development.
• Maintains personnel, student and fiscal records with confidentiality.
• Communicates vision and mission to staff, students, parents and community.
• Promotes positive school-community relations and parental involvement.
• Monitors student achievement and progress toward goals; initiates corrective action.
• Collaborates with intervention teams and counselors to reduce dropouts and improve academic success.
• Ensures safety compliance and develops emergency/crisis plans.
