Job summary

Salem Public Schools offers an Out-of-School Time (OST) High School Student Internship for SPS high school students only. Interns gain hands-on classroom experience, mentor younger students, and develop professional skills in early childhood education, education careers, and youth leadership.

OST internships begin in October and run in 10-week cycles. Interns commit to at least two days per week (4–12 hours). Selection is limited to SPS students, with supervision and monthly PD sessions provided.

Responsibilities

• Commit to a set schedule of at least 2 days per week (4–12 hrs/week) for 10-week cycles.
• Participate in monthly professional development sessions and orientation.
• Engage with younger students and support program activities in an OST setting.
• Attend weekly supervisor check-ins and complete required SPS paperwork.
