Job summary

The OST Educator at the Montachusett Community Branch YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families.

Under supervision, the OST Educator plans and implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum geared to the needs of each child in their care, including health & safety and adherence to YMCA Child Protection policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Previous experience with children (6 months or more) required.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required or within 60 days of hire.
• Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Meet minimum age standards as established by state law and the Y.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of children and program activities.
• Follows all policies, procedures, and standards; maintains records.
• Plans developmentally appropriate activities aligned with YMCA values.
• Builds positive rapport with youth and fosters leadership opportunities.
• Engages families and caregivers with ongoing dialogue about progress.
