Job description

Use researched-based best practices to provide creative teaching to reach the whole student: academically,
spiritually, socially, and physically.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(Other duties may be assigned)

  • Kingdom Collegiate Academy is an educational ministry of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. The work of a teacher is considered a form of ministry as they are entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing students’ spiritual, academic, and personal development under Christian teachings. A teacher’s role is to live a life that models the church’s core values to prepare students for a life of service and devotion to God. Teachers are required to model the practice of prayer, provide spiritual guidance and leadership, and participate in chapel, worship, and school-sponsored activities. Teachers must engage with all student families by providing spiritual support and guidance to help foster a Christ-centered environment.
  • Provide teaching and instruction in various areas of mathematics.
  • Integrate technology and real-world applications to enhance mathematical understanding and relevance.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote active participation and student engagement.
  • Present mathematical concepts clearly and effectively, using a variety of teaching strategies and resources.
  • Foster a collaborative learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing ideas.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by maintaining appropriate boundaries and exhibiting professional conduct with colleagues and students.
  • Foster a classroom environment that reflects the values (Spirit of the Ministry) of the school.
  • Work in alignment with the school’s purpose, philosophy, and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the administration and fellow faculty to help the school achieve its mission, vision, and educational objectives for each student.
  • Create daily and weekly lesson plans with consideration to the background and educational needs of the students, and post them online in accordance with the school’s guidelines for faculty and staff.
  • Work with other school staff to create an educational experience that promotes the spiritual, physical, academic, and social-emotional development of each student.
  • Effectively use the school’s assessment processes to document and report student progress through progress reports, report cards, and a variety of formative and summative assessment data.
  • Establish a positive and collaborative relationship with parents by consistently and clearly communicating in accordance with the school’s Guidelines for Parent Communication.
  • Attend required school activities and meetings, including Annual School Convocation, KCA Day at OCBF, and State of School meetings.
  • Continuously work to develop and improve professional competence and spiritual maturity.
  • Serve on curriculum development, textbook selection, and special activity committees.
  • Take leadership roles in planning chapel and assigned discipleship activities to foster the spiritual development of students.
  • Fulfill assigned duties, such as monitoring the playground or lunchroom, and participating in school committees with a positive attitude.
  • Appropriately use the school’s student information system to post lesson plans, grades, progress reports, and other important information to support student success.
  • Read, enforce, and comply with school policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook, Parent-Student Handbook, KCA Way Guidelines and Expectations, School Curriculum Guide, Emergency Operations Manual, and any other applicable documents.

  • Mathematical Skills — Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as grade averages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Present numerical data effectively.
  • Oral Communication — Ability to communicate primarily in English. Speak clearly and persuasively in positive and/or negative situations. Listen and get clarification in order to respond to questions. Demonstrate group presentation skills.
  • Planning/Organizing — Prioritize and plan work activities. Plan for additional resources. Set goals and objectives. Develop realistic action plans.
  • Problem Solving — Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and demonstrate the ability to develop alternative solutions. Gather and analyze information in order to develop alternative solutions. Work well in group problem-solving situations.
  • Professionalism — Approach others in a tactful manner by showing respect and consideration regardless of status or position. React well under pressure by keeping emotions under control. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public whether on or off duty.
  • Project Management — Coordinate and develop project plans and manage project team activities. Communicate changes and progress. Complete projects on time and within set budget.
  • Reasoning Ability — Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Safety and Security — Observe safety and security procedures. Determine appropriate action beyond guidelines. Report potentially unsafe conditions. Use equipment and materials properly.
  • Teamwork — Balance team and individual responsibilities. Exhibit objectivity and openness to others’ views and ideas by seeking the counsel of administrators and colleagues as needed.   • Written Communication — Write routine reports and other correspondence clearly and informatively and can vary writing style to meet needs using standard English. Edit work for spelling and grammar. Able to read and interpret documents such as lesson plans, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field from a four-year college or university and a minimum of three years related classroom-teaching experience, preferably in a Christian school. State Teacher certification (Standard or Alternative) or ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) certification is required. EC-6 Generalist certification preferred with emphasis in Math and Science. The successful candidate must complete the Christian philosophy of education in-service. Specific training in Understanding by Design, Response to Intervention, or Differentiated Instruction is preferred.

Members are asked to commit to:

  • Consciously pursuing spiritual growth by participating in the vital experience of the church (Education, Fellowship, Outreach, and Worship).
  • Faithfully give at least 10% of their income to the ministry of OCBF.
  • Faithfully serve in one of the ministries of the church in a volunteer capacity.
  • Agree to read and function under the guidelines and authority of the Church Constitution and By-Laws.
