Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in basic and complex mathematical principles, equations, formulas, and calculations, as well as an understanding of the application of mathematics in the solution of practical problems.

Essential Performance Responsibilities
  1. Develops and administers mathematics curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  2. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area, translating lesson plans into engaging learning experiences.
  4. Teaches knowledge and skills in mathematics, including concepts such as real and imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations, and geometry, fostering creative thinking and analysis.
  5. Designs learning activities demonstrating the application of mathematics to real-world problems.
  6. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, modifying instructional methods to meet individual needs, including students with special needs.
  7. Familiar with district and State standardized tests to adapt curriculum for maximum student achievement.
  8. Engages in professional development through seminars, workshops, or research.
  9. Maintains accurate records of student progress, achievement, and attendance.
  10. Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with students and parents.
  11. Ensures student conduct aligns with school standards and policies, establishing a positive learning environment.
  12. Collaborates with colleagues and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  13. Requisitions and maintains instructional supplies and equipment.
Additional Duties

Performs other tasks as assigned by the Principal and administrators.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, differentiated instruction, and a broad range of mathematical subjects.
  • Proficiency with data systems, analysis, and action planning.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to establish cooperative relationships.
Qualifications
  • SC Certification as a Secondary Mathematics Education Teacher.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Bachelor's degree in education; Master's preferred.
  • Successful prior teaching experience preferred.
Other Details

Works in standard school environments, with travel to district buildings and meetings as required.
