Job summary

KIPP Capital Region is hiring a Behavior Interventionist for a High School in Albany, NY. This role focuses on guiding student behavior, supporting teachers, and upholding a positive school culture.

The position requires at least a high school diploma (bachelor’s preferred) and about 1 year of related experience. The job emphasizes collaboration with student support teams and responsibility for classroom safety and behavior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School Diploma/GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of successful experience as an assistant/aide in a classroom setting or equivalent dealing with youth.
• Experience working in urban communities preferred but not required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
• Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, provides, and supervises behavioral activities for students.
• Provide guidance to Teachers to ensure staff meet students’ needs, especially those with special needs.
• Responsible for managing and reducing risk within the classroom with support from the Lead teacher.
• Work with the Dean of Scholars/Students to foster a positive, structured school culture.
• Assist with ensuring students with IEPs/504s have necessary support.
• Support implementing positive school behavior systems and rewards/demerits.
• Communicate with parents about student conduct and behavior modification plans.
• Monitor hallways and oversee detentions and related duties.
