Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials NA is seeking a Material Handler to move raw materials, finished products and equipment within the facility using a forklift and other handling equipment. Work is performed on the warehouse floor under general supervision with ability to handle moderately complex issues.

Responsibilities include selecting, packing, loading/unloading, cycle counts and maintaining safety standards. Pre-employment drug testing is required as part of our safety policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–4 years warehousing experience in metals industry.
• History of dependable attendance.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. for 100 ft.
• Must have forklift certification.
• Must be able to sit for long periods and perform bending, twisting, squatting, reaching and grasping motions.
• Safety Mindset.

• Accurately remove and stock product, customer’s product, and supplies according to inventory plan.
• Accurately select product to fill customer orders and package them properly.
• Load and unload trucks and verify that correct items are loaded and unloaded.
• Picking, processing and packing orders; may cut orders on Kaltenbach saw.
• Cycle Counts.
• Identify, hold and segregate defective material.
• Complete paperwork per work instructions, when required.
• Perform general clean up.
• Inspect forklift at the beginning of every shift and report issues.
• Participate and comply with health, safety, ISO and 6S Initiatives.
• Assist in other duties to support operation; train others when required.
• This position works on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

May also utilize cranes, hoists, hand trucks, and other moving equipment to meet job requirements. May perform other general warehouse functions in support of operational requirements. Performs work under general supervision and handles moderately complex issues and problems.

• High School Diploma / GED
• 2 to 4 years of warehousing experience - especially in Metals industry
• History of consistent dependable attendance
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. for 100 feet
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math skills
• Previous forklift certification
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time and perform bending, twisting, squatting, reaching and grasping motions
• Safety Mindset

Preferred Requirements:

• Use of handheld measuring tools preferred
• Basic computer skills and knowledge, such as with database programs and Microsoft Office programs preferred
• LEAN and/or Quality Control experience preferred
