Job summary

SpaceXAI is hiring a Rack Design Engineer to own high-density AI compute racks from concept to production. You will integrate compute, networking, power distribution, and liquid cooling, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to drive manufacturability and reliability on the floor.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background with 2+ years hands-on electromechanical hardware experience, familiar with CAD tools like SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of professional experience designing electromechanical hardware that was built and shipped.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical, structural, and integration design of high-density AI compute racks and chassis.
• Integrate compute, networking, power distribution, and liquid cooling into a buildable rack.
• Design for in-house manufacturing: DFMA, fixtures, instructions, inspections, first article, ramp.
• Address thermal, structural, and power constraints with cross-functional teams.
• Drive vendor and in-house parts from concept to production qualification.
• Prototype on the factory floor: fit, leak, cable dress, airflow balance, and issue retrofits.
• Produce and maintain CAD, BOMs, drawings, and build documentation for volume production.
• Support rack deployment and first-site bring-up for next hardware generation.
• Collaborate with network, optical, electrical, and firmware teams for custom compute.
