Job summary

SpaceXAI in Memphis, TN, is seeking a Rack Design Engineer to own the mechanical, structural, and integration design of high-density AI compute racks from concept to production. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate compute, networking, power distribution, and liquid cooling, and you’ll shepherd parts through our in-house manufacturing line.

As a hands-on team member, you will stand on the floor during prototype and production builds, validate fit and airflow, and translate

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 2+ years designing electromechanical hardware built and shipped (internships count).
• Experience with high-density racks or similar products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical, structural, and integration design of high-density AI racks.
• Integrate compute, networking, power, and liquid cooling into a buildable rack.
• DFM/DFA for in-house manufacturing: fixtures, instructions, inspection, ramp.
• Resolve thermal, structural, and power constraints with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Source and qualify parts (sheet metal, busbars, manifolds) for production.
• Prototype floors: debug fit, leaks, cable dress, airflow; feed fixes next revision.
• Create and maintain CAD, BOMs, drawings, and production-ready docs.
• Support rack deployment and first-site bring-up; feedback to next gen.
• Collaborate with network, optical, electrical, and firmware teams.
