Job summary

University of Mount Saint Vincent in New York seeks an HEOP Counselor to advance student success through advising, programming, and holistic guidance on campus.

Reporting to the Director for Federal and State Programs, the full-time exempt role requires a proactive, student-centered approach and collaboration with faculty and campus services; June–August availability is required for the HEOP Summer Program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, social sciences, or a related field required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and genuine interest in student development.
• Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Full availability during June–August to support HEOP Summer Program.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive academic, personal, crisis, and financial advising to an assigned caseload of students
• Create and maintain detailed and accurate student records
• Lead HEOP Summer Program planning (4–5 weeks)
• Coordinate with faculty and campus services to improve student outcomes
• Develop early intervention strategies for students facing difficulties
