Job summary

The New School’s HEOP Mentors program seeks dedicated undergraduates to support the HEOP Office within Student Affairs. You will assist with events, administration, communications, and social media content, helping economically and educationally disadvantaged students thrive.

This on-campus, part-time role runs for one academic year and requires in-person participation and a September 1st training. Ideal candidates demonstrate passion for access programs, reliability, and strong collaboration

Qualifications

• Passion for access/opportunity programs.
• Open-minded and culturally competent.
• Takes initiative and works independently and with others.
• Meets deadlines promptly and communicates clearly.
• Uses good judgment and thinks critically.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Assist students in developing study skills.
• Knowledge of social media platforms (IG/Facebook, etc.).
• Experience with researching, brainstorming, ideating, and creating programming and marketing materials.
• Able to lift boxes weighing up to 35 lbs.
• Available to attend in-person training on September 1st.

Responsibilities

• Support the HEOP program with event prep, including transporting materials, decorating spaces, and event breakdown/clean-up.
• Perform administrative duties related to the HEOP space operations.
• Regularly communicate with first-year HEOP students via email.
• Contribute content to the official @NewSchoolStudentLife Instagram in line with guidelines.
• Assist with creating visuals for college fairs and events.
• Provide support and guidance to HEOP students facing challenges.
• Assist with surveys and assessment tools to understand learning outcomes.
