Job summary

Cook County Health is seeking a Laboratory Services Supervisor for the Hematopathology section at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital. This role drives overall laboratory operations, training and development, and collaboration with senior leadership to maintain quality and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, evaluating processes, and ensuring fiscal responsibility while writing and updating policies and procedures to meet accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical Technology or equivalent in the field.
• Must qualify as a Medical Technologist as defined by the Illinois CL Code.
• Six years of full-time professional laboratory experience in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, POCT, etc.
• Two years of administrative, technical and/or lead oversight experience.
• National certification as a Technologist through ASCP, AMT, or AAB is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Oversee overall laboratory operations and staff performance.
• Monitor lab quality, instrumentation, purchasing, and operations; coordinate with supervisor and director.
• Represent the department in disciplinary or grievance matters and hearings.
• Participate in planning, development, and implementation of programs and policies for the lab.
• Perform and supervise diverse tests and procedures; ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
