Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Hematology/Oncology Ambulatory Clinic. You will support the care team by recording vitals, preparing patients for exams, and assisting with procedures under physician supervision.

You will perform lab procedures, administer routine medications under standing orders, and ensure smooth clinic workflow. Flexibility, strong communication, and patient-centered service are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold current Medical Assistant certification from AAMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA or other approved bodies.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• 1 year experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms patients for exam; records vital signs and pertinent health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures (e.g., strep test, wound culture) with aseptic technique.
• Assists physicians with procedures such as pelvic exams and other specialty tasks.
• Administers routine medications under physician/APP orders or standing protocols.
• Maintains clinic flow and communicates with team; relays information to patients as directed.
• May perform basic clinical tasks such as suture removal and phlebotomy under supervision.
