Job summary

Labcorp in Burlington, NC is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team. Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 12:30am - 9:00am. A Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science is required, with ASCP/AMT certification preferred.

Training is provided for new grads and opportunities for growth are emphasized. Responsibilities include selecting specimens, operating instruments, and ensuring accurate test results to support quality patient care.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements.
Must be able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
Operate routine and complex technical procedures according to SOPs.
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
