Job summary

University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) – Medical Center – Main Campus in Burlington, VT is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor in Hematology. This role supports daily operations, personnel management, scheduling, and adherence to accreditation standards while coordinating with multiple regulatory bodies.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field and relevant high-complexity lab experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field (chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology) with training and experience in high complexity testing or in an appropriate Clinical or Anatomic Laboratory.
• Four years of clinical or anatomical laboratory experience or three years with a master’s degree or specialist certification.

Responsibilities

• The Supervisor is an integral member of the management team who assists the manager in fulfilling one or more Laboratory division’s responsibilities and overseeing daily operations.
• Responsibilities include personnel management, orientation, goal setting, scheduling, compliance with accreditation agencies (e.g., CAP, FDA, AABB, NYS, Joint Commission, OSHA, EPA), budget input, succession planning, teaching, policy and procedure management, cost management, staff development and customer service.
• May include laboratory test maintenance and management and Laboratory information systems maintenance.
