We are seeking a Full-time Helpdesk Technician – Level 1 for our Clear Lake/Houston, Texas office.
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Helpdesk Technician (Level 1) to join our IT team and help support daily technical operations. This role provides front-line assistance to end users, performs workstation and hardware builds, and supports basic networking and system administration tasks. This position is not a remote position; the individual will work at our corporate office and may have to periodically provide afterhours support for system updates.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide first-level support for hardware, software, and network issues via phone, email, and remote tools.
- Troubleshoot Windows workstation problems including login issues, application errors, printing problems, and performance concerns.
- Assist with user account management in Active Directory (password resets, unlocks, group changes).
- Support basic network troubleshooting (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, connectivity checks, Wi‑Fi issues).
- Build, configure, and deploy workstations, laptops, and entry-level servers, including OS installation, driver updates, BIOS configuration, and domain joining.
- Install, configure, and update software on end‑user devices.
- Document all support interactions, resolutions, and escalations in the ticketing system.
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to Level 2/3 technicians.
- Follow established IT procedures, security policies, and workflow standards.
- Maintain a professional, customer‑focused attitude when assisting users.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a helpdesk, desktop support, or similar IT support role (Associate degree not required with relevant experience).
- Working knowledge of:
- Windows 10 and 11 operating systems.
- Windows Server 2019 and above.
- Active Directory user administration.
- Basic networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, ping/traceroute).
- Office 365 applications and email troubleshooting.
- Remote support tools (AnyDesk, TeamViewer, RDP, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience building and imaging workstations and laptops.
- Familiarity with basic server build (hardware setup, OS installation, initial configuration).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think through issues logically.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to assist non‑technical users.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications.
- Microsoft Fundamentals or Microsoft 365 Certifications.
- Experience with ticketing systems (Freshservice, ServiceNow, Jira, etc.).
- Familiarity with basic security practices (MFA, password hygiene, phishing awareness).
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Azure AD, and endpoint management tools.
- Basic scripting experience with batch files, PowerShell, or other automation tools.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Ability to lift and move computer equipment (up to ~40 lbs.).
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Provide on‑site support for hardware replacements or network troubleshooting.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and grow into more advanced responsibilities.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained.
- Dress appropriately for professional corporate environment.
- May have to periodically provide after‑hours support for system updates.
