Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. SDI Southwest Division is seeking an entry‑level Help Desk team member to support our IT operations. You will install and maintain hardware/software, assist with LAN networking, voice systems cabling, and contribute to AD user management and imaging efforts.

You will provide Tier 1 support, document end-user adoption, and manage equipment inventory, while participating in 24/7 on-call coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a computer course student, graduate, or have computer-related work experience
• Knowledge of Windows 11 required, Servers 2022 and above preferred
• Certifications: CompTIA A+ or similar
• Customer Service oriented
• Good communication skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Proactive and self-driven
• Team working
• CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+ or similar (Google)

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain computer hardware and software
• Assist with LAN-based networking support

• Repair or upgrade computer systems as needed
• Provide Tier 1 hardware/software support
• Assist with Active Directory user/group/permissions changes

• Work in ticketing tool fulfilling incidents and requests per SLA
• Manage computer equipment inventory
• On-call 24/7 support in case of emergency

Overview

Help Desk is an entry-level position on the IT Team at SDI Southwest Division

Responsibilities

• Installation and maintenance of all computer hardware and software
• Assisting with the support of all aspects of LAN-based networking
• Assisting with the installation and maintenance of voice systems; usually limited to cabling, phones, headsets and software
• Assisting with the cabling in new and existing locations for network, computers, phones or other equipment such as printers
• Repairing or upgrading computer systems as needed
• Providing Tier 1 level support on hardware and software technical issues
• Assisting with modification of Active Directory users, groups, and permissions
• Creation, updating and management of computer images
• Prepare documentation to assist end-user adoption of new and existing tools
• Work in the ticketing tool fulfilling all end-user incidents and requests in compliance with agreed SLA's
• Manage the computer equipment inventory
• Any other duties as assigned by the IT Supervisor
• Provide on-call 24/7 support in case of emergency
