Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Help Desk member for the IT Team at the SDI Southwest Division. You will install and maintain hardware and software, and support LAN-based networking and voice systems.

Responsibilities include creating, updating and managing images, handling Tier 1 incidents in the ticketing system, and providing 24/7 on-call support as needed. Excellent communication and proactive problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a computer course student, graduate, or have computer-related work experience.
• Knowledge of Windows 11 required, Servers 2022 and above preferred.
• CompTIA A+ or similar certification is expected.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain computer hardware and software.
• Assist with LAN-based networking support.
• Assist with installation/maintenance of voice systems (cabling, phones, headsets, software).
• Assist with cabling for network, computers, phones or printers.
• Repair or upgrade computer systems as needed.
• Provide Tier 1 level support for hardware/software issues.
• Assist with Active Directory users, groups, and permissions.
• Create, update and manage computer images.
• Prepare documentation for end-user adoption of tools.
• Work in ticketing system to fulfill incidents/requests per SLA.
• Manage computer equipment inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned by IT Supervisor.
• Provide on-call 24/7 support in case of emergency.

Overview

Responsibilities

• Installation and maintenance of all computer hardware and software
• Assisting with the support of all aspects of LAN-based networking
• Assisting with the installation and maintenance of voice systems; usually limited to cabling, phones, headsets and software
• Assisting with the cabling in new and existing locations for network, computers, phones or other equipment such as printers
• Repairing or upgrading computer systems as needed
• Providing Tier 1 level support on hardware and software technical issues
• Assisting with modification of Active Directory users, groups, and permissions
• Creation, updating and management of computer images
• Prepare documentation to assist end-user adoption of new and existing tools
• Work in the ticketing tool fulfilling all end-user incidents and requests in compliance with agreed SLA’s
• Manage the computer equipment inventory
• Any other duties as assigned by the IT Supervisor
• Provide on-call 24/7 support in case of emergency
