Job summary

Middlebury College seeks a Bilingual Assistant in Hebrew for its Summer Hebrew School on the campus in Middlebury, VT. The role supports language immersion, student life, and program operations during the 7-week session.

Responsibilities span ambassador duties, student life, events, tutoring, technology support, and communications, with lodging and meal plan provided in addition to salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred; advanced degree a plus.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Hebrew and English, oral and written.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills.
• Ability to work with people of all ages and levels (students, professionals, colleagues).
• Willingness to take initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Serves as primary in-language point of contact for students and faculty, language practice support.
• Engages with students outside class, including meals, activities, and dorms.
• Designs and leads team-building activities for classes or programs.
• Supports adherence to the Language Pledge and learning environment.
• Represents the School and Middlebury community in official capacities.
• Represents School administration in dorms and social spaces, evenings and weekends.
• Responds to student emergencies and guides to appropriate offices and resources.
• Facilitates cultural programs and coordinates with campus offices for events.
• Provides tutoring and linguistic support, including conversation practice and testing assistance.
• Offers IT and classroom tech support as needed.
• Translates School and official Middlebury documents.
• Manages communications across email, website, social media, and publications.
