Middlebury College invites applications for a temporary Bilingual Assistant in Hebrew for the 7-week Summer Hebrew School on the Middlebury College campus in Middlebury, VT. The role combines classroom support with language practice, residential guidance, and program coordination.

The position emphasizes language immersion, student engagement, and collaboration with faculty and staff to ensure a high-quality learning environment. Lodging and meals are provided in addition to the salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred; advanced degree a plus.
• Native or near-native proficiency in target language (Hebrew) and English.
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with people of all ages and levels.
• Willing to take initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary in-language contact for students and faculty.
• Engage with students, providing linguistic practice and support outside class.
• Design and implement team-building exercises for classes or program.
• Support students' commitment to the Language Pledge and the learning environment.
• Represent the School and Middlebury community to students and faculty.
• Provide dorm guidance and non-academic support; monitor Language Pledge.
• Facilitate cultural events and co-curricular activities; host guests and events.
• Provide tutoring hours and conversation practice; assist with testing.
• Provide IT support and classroom technology assistance as needed.
• Communicate with students and faculty across platforms; manage media content.
