Tessera is seeking a dedicated Heavy Truck Driver to support essential sanitation services for military and civilian sites at Lakewood, WA. The role requires a CDL A with Hazmat endorsements and a focus on safe, reliable operation of tanker units and portable sanitation equipment.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years in sanitation or commercial driving (equivalent experience allowed)
• Must qualify for Red Badge Security Clearance for PSNS/Bangor
• Must be eligible for FMCSA Clearinghouse registration and compliance
• A valid CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement is required and able to obtain insurance coverage
• DOT-regulated pre-employment medical examination and drug screening required

Responsibilities

• Drive a tanker truck to deliver, set up, and retrieve portable sanitation units
• Sanitize and maintain portable latrines and sinks and replenish supplies
• Perform minor truck maintenance and maintain service logs
• Maintain service records and conduct light repairs as needed
• Safely dispose of effluent per environmental and hazmat rules
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers for professional service
• Navigate Joint Base Lewis-McChord and other installations accurately

Compensation : $36.05/hr

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Drive and operate a tanker truck to deliver, set up, and retrieve portable sanitation units using map‑based grid coordinates

• Sanitize and maintain portable latrines and sinks, including pumping effluent and replenishing supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels)

• Perform minor truck maintenance and maintain vehicle service logs

• Maintain service records for sanitation units and conduct light repairs as needed

• Safely dispose of effluent at designated disposal sites in compliance with environmental and hazmat regulations

• Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers, ensuring professional service delivery

• Navigate Joint Base Lewis-McChord and other military installations with precision and familiarity

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years in sanitation or commercial driving (equivalent experience allowed)

• Familiarity with military installations preferred

• Map reading using grid coordinates, independent work ethic, customer service

• Must qualify for Red Badge Security Clearance for PSNS/Bangor

• Must be eligible for FMCSA Clearinghouse registration and compliance

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to meet the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case‑by‑case basis.

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

• Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

• Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements:

• FMCSA Requirements: Must comply with Entry‑Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards for Class A CDL and Hazmat endorsements.

• Hazmat Endorsement: Requires passing a written knowledge test and TSA background check for transporting hazardous materials.

• Clearinghouse Compliance: Must be registered with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and maintain a clean record per state and federal guidelines.

• A valid CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance company.

• A Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated pre‑employment medical examination and drug screening are required. Candidates must meet federal guidelines to be considered for this position.
