Job summary

QSL America is seeking a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic – Lead to join our dynamic maintenance team in New Orleans. This role involves diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy mobile equipment critical to our operations along the Mississippi River at the Port of New Orleans.

The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to manage vendors while ensuring safety compliance. We offer a competitive hourly wage, ongoing training, and a full-time position with rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy equipment maintenance experience, with leadership experience as a plus.
• Strong diagnostic skills in diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Valid driver's license; TWIC card required or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy mobile equipment including forklifts and cranes.
• Schedule and track maintenance tasks using CMMS technology.
• Manage vendors and parts procurement for the maintenance team.

About the New Orleans Terminal:

Work along the Mississippi River at the Port of New Orleans, one of the busiest trade gateways in the United States. Our maintenance team supports 24/7 high‑volume cargo handling with a strong focus on safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy mobile equipment (forklifts, cranes, loaders)
• Schedule and track maintenance tasks using CMMS (Maximo)
• Manage vendors and parts procurement as needed
• Ensure safety and ISO/HSSE compliance in all activities
• Mentor and support maintenance team members

What You Need to Succeed:

• 5+ years of heavy equipment maintenance experience; leadership experience is a plus
• Strong skills in diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems diagnostics
• Proficiency with CMMS systems (preferably Maximo)
• Valid driver’s license; TWIC card required or ability to obtain
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and emergencies
